Book Club Reminder: Facilitators

Last month we announced SIA’s first book club featuring I Am Malala by our 2022 biennial convention keynote speaker Malala Yousafzai. We hope you have considered adding this activity to your region or club events!

If your region is participating in the book club, please be sure to choose a facilitator by the end of this week if you have not done so already!

The facilitator should schedule a meeting date and time (virtual or in person) in the upcoming months for their group discussion. Also, consider communicating with your region conference team about holding this discussion during your conference!

Facilitators should:

  • Communicate to members to obtain I Am Malala as soon as possible, preferably in March.

  • Plan a day to meet (virtual or in person) to discuss I Am Malala in the month of May or June.

  • Prepare an agenda for members to access by the end of March that details the meeting date and time, when to finish the book, discussion ideas, etc.

  • Optional: Create a Facebook group for your members to discuss and chat before your official meeting.

  • Meet with members and facilitate a discussion with questions provided by SIA or use your own.

The book club is not mandatory—it is for your own enjoyment. Have fun learning more about Malala, engaging with your fellow members and hearing various perspectives!
