Soroptimist Nancy Butler Shares Highlights from CSW Experience
If you’ve ever attended any of the sessions during the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations, you know what an amazing experience it can be. This year’s event, the 66th CSW, took place March 14-25, 2022, with a series of virtual events.
Nancy Butler, a member of SI/Connecticut Shoreline, CT (Northeastern Region), talks about her CSW experience, and how she received the opportunity to present to a group of Soroptimists from Mongolia as a result of connecting during sessions.
CSW has been an absolutely amazing and educational experience. Each time I attend sessions I am blown away. This year I participated in about 50 sessions on a multitude of topics. At each session I type into the chat that I am a 35+ year member of Soroptimist.
During one session someone asked for my email and we connected the same day. They asked if I would be willing to speak to women in their country either in person or via Zoom. As an international speaker for 40 years, and Soroptimist member I was excited to do whatever I could to provide an excellent presentation for these women.
On Saturday, April 16, 2022, I spoke for two hours via Zoom to 45 women on the topic of happiness, independence and success regardless of your age.
The session received rave reviews and remarks.
In addition to her CSW experience, Nancy belongs to an active club that has done much in the Connecticut Shoreline community to help women and girls over the years through the Dream It, Be It and Live Your Dream Awards programs, as well as many other local projects.
