Around the world, women and girls still face barriers that stifle their potential and limit their dreams. Our mission is to provide them with the education, advocacy, and support they need to overcome these hurdles. Last year, we reached nearly 26,000 individuals through our Dream Programs, igniting hope in the hearts of those who need it most. But there’s still more work to do.

A Story of Resilience: Daryn’s Journey 

Daryn, a 2023-2024 Live Your Dream Award recipient, embodies courage and determination. Overcoming a childhood marked by poverty, violence, and neglect, she entered the care system at 16 and fought to create a stable future for herself. In her late teens, she survived an abusive relationship and pursued justice, enduring a grueling court trial that resulted in her ex-boyfriend’s conviction.

Refusing to let past adversity define her future, she is now in her third year of university, studying psychology and criminology with the goal of reforming the justice system and breaking cycles of trauma. Alongside her studies, Daryn juggles part-time work, cares for her two younger siblings, and volunteers extensively. She mentors foster youth, leads support groups for at-risk teens, and collaborates with law enforcement to improve domestic violence response. 

“Receiving this award means more than words can articulate,” Daryn shared. “It means I can keep going to pay my bills, continue my schooling, and most importantly, to show up for others. To know that someone believes in you and supports you is absolutely remarkable. It’s given me a sense of hope in humanity that my experiences tried so hard to disrupt.”  

Daryn’s story is a powerful testament to the transformative impact of the Live Your Dream Awards and the generosity of supporters who make them possible.
